Academic Success Pathway

Understanding the Academic Success Program

The Academic Success Program is designed to ease students through the transition from high school to college courses. Both the Summer and Fall programs lead to full-time Spring enrollment and keep students on track to graduate in four years.

Students in the Academic Success Program are 100% Florida Atlantic students and can participate in almost all student activities and events. Please note that some fraternity and sorority organizations may require full-time enrollment for membership.

Financial aid offers are based on full-time enrollment and may be adjusted if you are enrolled part-time. To understand how your enrollment affects your aid, please reach out to your financial aid counselor or use the Financial Aid Disbursement Estimator

Students are offered admission to Summer or Fall based on their overall academic profile. The entering term is not negotiable.

Academic Success Program FAQs

What is the Academic Success Pathway (ASP) and why am I in this program?

The Academic Success Pathway (ASP) is intended to give students a strategic start with academic success
in their first semester in college. Students are offered admission to Summer or Fall based on their overall
academic profile.

Students offered admission for the Summer term will complete 6 credits in Summer Term 3 and
continue into Fall as a part-time student (no more than 11 credits). Additionally, all Summer students
will be enrolled into SLS1410: FAU iSucceed, a fully online, 0 credit first-year experience
course. Students admitted for the Fall term will complete no more than 11 credits as a part-time
student.

Can I move out of this program if I have new test scores or have improved my GPA?
Students may contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions directly at admissions@jsxfjn.com or 561-
297-3040 to discuss a change of entry request.
When will I know what classes I can take?
You will select which courses you would like to take when you complete your Online Advising (called EZ
Advising). Your assigned Academic Advisor will provide you with course recommendations and
comments on your advising form based on your major, math placement score, and pending
AP/IB/AICE/Dual Enrollment credit.
What are the Academic Success Pathway requirements?

Summer: Students must enroll in and complete 6 credits. Your Academic Advisor will determine the
appropriate courses for you based on your potential incoming credits and intended major.

Important Requirement: Students must earn a 2.0 GPA or better to continue to the Fall.

Fall: Your Academic Advisor will determine the appropriate courses for you based on your potential
incoming credits and intended major. Per your Admission requirements, you can take up to 11 credits.

Are there specific classes I have to take?
Yes. Your selection will be based on your major requirements, credit you have earned (or may earn)
through AP/IB/AICE/Dual Enrollment, and class availability.

Additionally, all students will be enrolled into SLS1410: FAU iSucceed, a fully online, 0 credit first-year
experience course. In this course you will learn about yourself, FAU, and what it takes to be a successful
college student.
Will my courses be in person or online?
You have the option to take your courses in-person or online as long as they are available. Note
SLS1410: FAU iSucceed is a fully online course.
How do I register for courses?
Once you complete your online advising through EZ Advising, you will receive an email to your FAU
email outlining the courses you should take in the Summer and Fall. Once your holds are removed and
registration has opened, you can register immediately. Learn more about how to register. Note: You will be registered into SLS1410 closer to the start of Summer 3.
Are there deadlines to register for Academic Success Pathway?
Registration opens in April. You will receive your registration date once your EZ Advising is submitted
and approved. We encourage students to register for Summer and/or Fall as early as possible due to
course availability and program requirements.
